The Role

The Manager, Sustainable Production, EMEA role, can be based in one of the following office locations: Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, or Rome.

 

Netflix Sustainability serves to tackle our carbon footprint at the speed prescribed by climate science, raise awareness through our film and television content, and engage our millions of members on climate & environmental change. 

 

Leveraging Netflix’s innovative and fast-paced culture, help Netflix attain its public climate target to reduce our emissions by roughly half by 2030 by supporting Netflix's internal Production Management teams across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) to decarbonize production operations.  This role will be located in the EU or the United Kingdom. This role is not remote and is expected to work in a Netflix office in Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, or Rome. Up to 40% travel may be required.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting into Global Netflix Sustainability, this role will be embedded in the Netflix EMEA Production team and will bring expertise and experience in the following areas:

  • Support Sustainable Production Strategy: Collaborate with local Studio Production Management teams to embed sustainability practices, including energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, clean mobile power, and electric vehicles, into local production operations.

  • Localization & Guidance: Lead the adaptation Netflix's sustainable production resources to local contexts and languages and provide guidance to EMEA-based production sustainability consultants.

  • Education & Training: Identify gaps in production decarbonization knowledge and develop strategies to close these gaps, including supporting local education and training initiatives. 

  • Cleantech Equipment Expansion: Support Studio Production Management teams to increase access to clean technologies, such as mobile clean power and electric vehicles, by aggregating demand and encouraging inventory growth among local suppliers.

  • Industry Collaboration: Stay informed and participate in regional and country-level sustainable production initiatives and groups, working to streamline standards across EMEA, in coordination with production policy. 

  • Regulatory Awareness: Stay up to date on country-level and regional regulations related to sustainability, and the operational practices they govern.

  • Decarbonization Progress Tracking: Coordinate with Netflix Sustainability to monitor progress, gather relevant data, and support company reporting processes.

  • Carbon Footprint Data: Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g. studios, workplace, production) to improve and standardize data collection on emissions-related activities, supporting annual reporting efforts. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 7 -10+ years of professional sustainability experience in the entertainment industry. 

  • Experience in film or TV production operations, either directly or at a studio or broadcaster is preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in clean energy solutions, with experience in decarbonization and fuel reduction initiatives.

  • Familiarity with corporate carbon footprint protocols, with production carbon footprinting experience a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Experience with strategically managing resources including budgets.

  • Strong judgment, highly effective communication and interpersonal skills and ability to make wise decisions despite ambiguity. 

  • Ability to lead and inspire teams towards achieving sustainability goals.
